Jane Austen, Time travel and Pride and Prejudice

I think I should like very much to live in the regency era, life seems like it would be much more slow paced. Having just watched Pride and Prejudice ( 2005) I believe I have made up my mind to find someway to get to the past and live a very happy enjoyable existence there.
Though I know that I am probably just overly romanticizing on such a time, I feel I should at least like very much to try to live in such a place. What do you think dear reader, would you like to go to some time in the past that holds a special place in your heart ? I know I have too many, and should need a time machine to compensate for that. Yes I should like very much to be a time traveler in a beautiful regency dress, can you see it in your minds eye ? That would be a very strange sight to see.
Though I have seen Pride and Prejudice more times than I can count I have yet to tire of the film, or the book if I owned it I believe. What is it about this classic that holds the generations captive ? Is it the timeless love story that holds us in raptures, or the general story, the characters with their colorful lives and clashing personalities, or do we love it because it came out of the heart of a woman who was unfortunate to not have such a love story. I believe it is a bit of all, what do you think ?

All of Jane Austens volumes have a certain quality about them that make you want to like them, and even if you have only watched the films and never read a line of her timeless tales, or you are adamant against watching them and can only see the beauty of reading her lines, we all have the love of her works in common. You may now leave me to dream of time travel, dresses, dancing at fancy ball's and living in some mansion-esque home with lavish gardens to tend and keep, picture the gardens in Emma, sunny picnics and peaceful afternoons.

  1. I've often spent many a day wishing I could travel through time... It would be simply lovely to go to Regency times, but I'm afraid I would unknowingly do something completely disgraceful, and get myself banished from society within the first hour of my being there!

  2. I just *love* Pride and Prejudice. The 2005 movie is amazing and I love reading the book. I do wish that I could travel back in time, at least for a little while, just to see what life was like.

    Blessings,
    Emily.

  3. I too HEART the Regency era time period, although, I do much prefer the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice. I think you and me both were born in the wrong time period, eh? :)

Thank you, dear Hope, for always leaving the sweetest notes in my garden! "Gardening" just wouldn't be the same without you!
