C S Lewis

I have found a new favorite author in C S Lewis, his style of writing is nothing short of genus.
I have to say that if ever there was a case of pen slaying, I had it after reading three of his novels.
Being a self taught authoress I love learning from the writers in whose stories I find myself lost.
Have you ever read a novel just to look at the technical side ? I find its most troublesome for me, I am too easily caught up in the story and characters, but I tried very hard mind you with C S Lewis books and found a wealth of knowledge therein.
First I saw how he knows his characters like they were a close friend, probably more, and he comes at their character with a definitive knowing, as if he himself were in that situation.
I also saw how he understands the importance of emotions, it is these that draw us in isn't it ?
A story is more than just a re-telling of happenings, it a story laced with thoughts and close kept emotions, that calls us to draw upon our own, when rooting for the main characters or despising the shortcomings of said characters. Ever story from the dawn of time worth reading is heavily laced with emotions and C S Lewis knew this in my humble opinion best of all.
Also what I love about his stories is that he was practical and yet widely unafraid to be ridicules,
in that I mean he wrote a lot of stories that on the surface are fantasy in its most brilliant form, and yet even under that he approached said fantasy with a practicality that makes one believe that all these stories could very well have happened, and as I said above like he had actually experienced these situations.
Plainly put I think I shall have a shelf dedicated to the works of C S Lewis and will not be happy until I have procured all of his complete works. Why shouldn't we honor our teachers ? And what a teacher.
My own words fall short of the point I am trying to convey, I only can hope that whom ever reads this will give his world a try, I think he will be able to explain the point better in his own written words.

Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.

Books I just finished and recommend by C S Lewis

The dark tower and other stories,
[a compilation of short and half finished works but really interesting]
Until we have faces
[A spin on the classical tail of Cupid and Psych, but from the eyes of her sister, I loved the emotions in this book]
Out of the silent planet
[A brilliant tale of space travel and aliens, pend long before man even began to dream of doing such things ]
The Screwtape letters
[ a compilation of letters from one demon to another, an in-depth again brilliant look at the unseen beings around us]
